Scalloping Season

Bay Scallops

The 2023 recreational bay scallop season for Dixie County opens June 15 through Labor Day. Click here for more information. Each summer, hundreds of Floridians and visitors come to our coastal community for the world’s best scalloping. This is a great time to get outside and enjoy the Gulf Coast’s beautiful waters, abundant fishing opportunities and any of the other great attractions we offer.

A place for many

attractions

From stalking pristine flats for big redfish to offshore trolling and bottom fishing, this place has it all. Kayaks paddle the extremely shallow areas. Flats skiffs are poled silently through the grass. Farther off the shoreline, fishing boats drift the grass flats in water from 2 to 7 feet deep looking for seatrout. Beyond 7 feet in depth, boats drift or anchor and chum for a variety of fish, including sand trout, redfish and flounder.
